USS New Jersey (SSN-796): The U.S. Navy Has a New Virginia-Class Attack Submarine
This submarine, designed for a variety of naval warfare missions, is the latest addition to a class intended to replace older models and enhance littoral combat capabilities.
However, funding cuts pose challenges, with the Navy's Fiscal Year 2025 budget proposing reductions in new submarine acquisitions amid shifting priorities towards unmanned systems and immediate operational needs.

The Ford-class, including the under-construction USS John F. Kennedy, will be the world’s premier aircraft carrier. Frankly, the U.S. is uncontested with respect to aircraft carrier technology; the U.S. legacy fleets, like the Enterprise- and the Nimitz-class, which the Ford is replacing, are more advanced than any carrier in any other countries’ arsenal. But the Ford-class is forward-looking, ...

Since 1947, the U.S. Air Force has prioritized long-range strategic bombers for nuclear deterrence. By the 1960s, the vulnerability of B-52 bombers to Soviet defenses led to the development of low-altitude penetrating bombers like the FB-111 and B-1. Advances in stealth technology culminated in the F-117 Nighthawk, setting the stage for the B-2 Spirit's development. Despite its groundbreaking s...

Let's see. The EMALS on the Ford still has a reliability problem, it is failing about 15% of its design MTBF. That doesn't sound so good for the US Navy. It also has problems with the blast shields and the elevators. The EMALS problem is said to be a design problem and won't be resolved until 2025. How that affects the Kennedy, remains to be seen. Further, it sounds like the plan for 12 super carriers is on hold while the Navy rethinks its future. The current thinking sounds like the US may back off on super carriers and opt for more small ships, like destroyers. It seems that in today's world, carriers are just a big missile target and can't get in range to launch its aircraft.

Surely the whole point of stealth is that your opponents don’t know you are there, and you can strike them at a distance and get out without being observed. Manoeuvrability only comes into play when you are observed, then close up and personal with your opponents, at which point stealth has mostly left the equation. Therefore a stealth plane that relies on manoeuvrability, is hardly a stealth plane at all.

5 to 6 yrs should be the current practice, because China latest Fujian with electronic catapult systems took 5 years to construct. But i jeard a different story from US. They took 5 yrs to do repairs and maintenance. This is not surprised. Hugh corruption, inadequate workers, insufficient naval construction facilities. And much more

All Russian air daffiness systems are better than their supposed western counterparts with s300 ( in all its versions), s400 and s500 on top of all western systems. Additionally, you have the Iranian systems only second to the Russian ones and closing in. So I do not know who payed you to claim this classification ( the person/s) but it is not hard to figure out the party you are trying to kiss ass to.

As a retired US Navy Aviation Maintenance Chief who served on many aircraft carriers, I like to see another next generation carrier named America. I know the US Navy has named an amphibious carrier by that name, but it is not a CVN. If not America, then I strongly feel the name should be CVN Jimmy Carter who honorably served in the Navy and became a US President.

When reading many comments i thought not many understand how USA industries change during ramp threw war. During this time everything that is needed to build up, replacing ect goes to the military. ITS THE LAW. Also ships that are removed from active service goes into whats called MOTHBALL ( jets, helicopters, tanks & ships) at first fuels, oils, water, ect are removed. Its cleaned up then gets a wrapping. This is done to preserve everything inside ( like ships electronics This is done incase carrier got sunk, big missile holes, what ever. The carrier can be fitted so fast and onto the area of battle. Same with planes, tanks, helicopters ect. Now the older like a ship is in mothball and no longer close to what we have then everything is removed, stripped down. The ships hull can be sold for scrap metal.

I think that's a major downside of America's modern carriers (as well as other units), namely that they're so expensive and take so long to build compared to previous carriers such as the Essex class which were relatively cheap and quick to build so we could crank out tons of them like crazy and thus be able to replace any losses and or overwhelm the enemy via numbers, and likewise the planes of those days were much cheaper and faster to make so they too could be quickly replaced or used to overwhelm an enemy. Of course, modern jets and carriers are way more advanced, and the world has changed so we probably can't backtrack on any of those advancements, but still I think the US would benefit by looking into how to make military units that could be quickly and cheaply built like in WW2 in the event of a major conflict where such a thing is needed. Then again, perhaps they've already looked into it and already have contingency plans, but still.
